Kenya Utalii College (KUC) and the Italian Cultural Institute of Nairobi are set enter into a collaboration to boost Italian language, culture and cuisine in Kenya.
A meeting held between a team from KUC led by the Director of Studies Mr. Wilson Mwangi and a team from the Italian Institute led by the Director Ms Elena Gallenca entered into broad discussions on opportunities that both institutions can capitalize on as they work towards achieving their mandates.
“One of the areas of interest would be the inclusion of Italian cuisine under KUC’s food production training and we can look into ways of getting an Italian Chef to do this,” said Madam Elena.
On his part, Mr Mwangi recommended the introduction of student and lecturer exchange programmes between KUC and Italian universities. “Our best Italian students can be given an opportunity to visit Italy for internships at Italian Hotels,” he said.
The two institutions are looking into ways of developing a long-term partnership that will be beneficial to both Kenya and Italy. Besides Italian, other foreign languages offered at KUC include French, Chinese, German, Spanish and Japanese.
